Scholastic Scrimmage

Scholastic Scrimmage is a group of intelligent students that go to other schools to compete against other students. It is an educational competition. This year, their first competition was held on November 5 at Allentown Central Catholic. Students join Scholastic Scrimmage to showcase their intelligence by going head to head against students from other schools.

Sophomore Maggie Holloway said, “Scholastic Scrimmage is really fun. All of the members are great, and we have a lot of fun competing against other schools.”

All clubs need to have an advisor. The Scholastic Scrimmage team’s advisor is Miss Miller.

“I really enjoy advising Scholastic Scrimmage, because the kids involved are great, and because I was a member of the team when I went to school here in the ‘80s and early ‘90s,” said Miss Miller.

The Scholastic Scrimmage team has a sort of “jv” and “varsity” team, however, they call their “varsity” team their “tv” team.

Senior, Erin Kelly said, “I am the captain of the team. Other members of the “tv” team are Emily Layden, Takumi Hawes, Maggie Holloway, and our alternate, Steven Jaramillo. Some other students that are involved in Scholastic Scrimmage are Billy Summers, Chris Williams, Adam Brown, Ian Montelius, Matt Inoa, and Zach Dykas. All of the members are important to the team, no matter if they are on the “tv” team, or not.”

The team has a lot of fun competing at different schools. They do not always win, but the experiences were fun.

“We lost to Allentown Central Catholic when we competed against them. In the spring, we will also be competing in the Intermediate Unit Tournament at Weatherly High School,” said junior, Adam Brown.

Scholastic Scrimmage is a great way to meet new people. Unlike other clubs, they have actual competitions. They show off their intelligence, and have fun while doing it.
