On November 13, Destiny Sanchez and Christian Torres ran a 3 on 3 basketball tournament in the gymnasium of Jim Thorpe High School. The tournament was put together as their senior project to raise money for Autism. There was a total of eight teams that participated and a bunch of students that went to watch them play.

Junior William Nieves said, “I think it was for a good cause and I’m glad I was able to play and help support Autism.”

There were many people that also helped support Autism by not only donating money, but donating their time to make sure things were being run correctly. Aubrey Warner volunteered his time to DJ for the fundraiser and Mr. Podlinski volunteered and collected students admission, supervised the gym, and was even refereeing.

“I think it was really nice of Aubrey to Dj for everyone and for Mr. Podlinski to watch over everything and help make everything fair because our school is always competitive,” said Junior Devin Cecil.

The winners of the tournament were Jalil Venee, Abe Johnson, and Rayan Green. Altogether the fundraising tournament was a success. It brought in $209.00 in support for Autism.

Freshman Gianna Antignani said, “I’m glad our school was able to have something like this. I hope it is done again next year because it really helped and was fun at the same time.”
