JT App

This year, Mr. Joe Brown, Director of Technology at the Jim Thorpe Area School District, created an app to keep all updated on what is going on in the district.

Jim Thorpe SD is a free app available on the app store. Once the app is opened, there is a list of categories to choose from, including, news, calendar, athletics, menus, and PowerSchool. Many students have found this app very useful because of how easy it is to get information.

Hannah Mordaunt stated, “The JT app is pretty useful sometimes. I use it to check and see if any sports games or matches are still on or not. You can also get on to PowerSchool and other things too. In case you didn’t get the call for a 2hr delay or a day off, it alerts you too.”

The app will gives the daily update on what is going on in the district in the news category and  athletics category gives when and where a game or meet will be.

“I personally like the JT app. It’s pretty useful for the students here. When we get off school or a delay, it alerts you right on your lock screen, you don’t even have to unlock your phone. Theres also a lot of helpful information on there about our school and school district. I use the app almost daily to check the very helpful “news” category to see if there were any changes. Overall, it works really good and is helpful,” says junior, Justin Nocelli.

The lunch menu for the whole month is also on the app, in the menus category. But one of the most important features is that it will notify students directly when the school is closed, there is a two hour delay, all after school activities are cancelled, or school is going to be let out early. Just turn on notifications for the app to allow alerts.

This is the reason that junior, Sadie O’Donnell likes the app, “JT app is very useful because its an easy access to PowerSchool, and school closings and delays show up right on your lock screen, you can also see the lunch menu.”
