The first ever Paranormal Activity movie was released in 2007 and received three stars on IMDb. Now, in 2015, the most recent installment has come out this past October, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, and so far has only received two stars on IMDb. The Ghost Dimension is in 3D, and is directed by Gregory Plotkin, who was an editor for the first movie.

 The movie starts out at the end of Paranormal Activity 3. All of the movies seem to intertwine in some way or another, so it’s no surprise that this new movie would be picking up where one ended. The whole first few minutes of the movie are focused on the two sisters, Kristi and Katie, who have played important roles in the Paranormal Activity franchise.

 “I’ve see a few Paranormal Activity movies,” said Sadie O’Donnell, a senior, “and they’ve scared me a little. But I was only like ten years old.” 2007, when the first Paranormal Activity came out was eight years ago. “I haven’t gotten to see the newest movie, yet, but I don’t think I will. The movies seem a little overrated.”

 The whole movie is based around this camera that can see things that the human eye cannot It is later found out by one of the main characters, Ryan Fleege, played by Chris J. Murray, that it had been customly made and is extremely powerful. The whole gist behind this camera is that it can see the ghost, Toby. However, there is only one person that can see Toby besides the camera, Leila, the daughter.

 “I’ve only ever seen the first Paranormal Activity,” Emily Sailer, a senior, said. “I’m not really into them.” Not everyone is into these kind of movies. They seem to come off as corny and cheesey, so most people think they are stupid. It takes the right kind of person to enjoy these movies.

 Throughout the movie, Lelia is seen talking to Toby, but no one can see him, except the camera. Through the lense of the special camera, we see black “smoke” take form of a human shape. This is known as the ghost Toby. The whole story of the Paranormal Activity movies is based around this ghost, Toby. In the most recent installment, movie goers find out the whole story about Toby.

 Helena Brown, a junior said, “I haven’t see the newest movie, but I would really like to. I’m really into that kind of stuff and those kinds of movies.” The movie came out on October 23rd, 2015, only a few days before Halloween.

 This could be the last Paranormal Activity, but it could also not be. This last movie seemed to close off the story, but it also gave life to a new one. Is this the end of the Paranormal Activity franchise, or it opening a door to a new era of movies?
