Students mourning PODS time change

Starting class first thing in the morning for the school year is not exactly what students were looking forward to this year. PODS is now after third period, and not in the morning before classes. Students feel that they will need time to adjust to the new schedule.

“I think in the beginning of the year it has been worse for the students because they haven’t adjusted to the change, but as the year goes on, the students will be fine,” Mr. Schwartz said.

There are not just negative changes that has went along with the new schedule so far. On a positive note, this gives students a chance to get more organized throughout the day and catch up on homework from the last three periods. The students use this class time to study for upcoming tests for the next classes to keep information fresh in their minds.

“It breaks up the day and allows students to “regroup” and get themselves organized after three periods,” said Mr. Schwartz

Some students feel that not having a lot of time in the morning is not very useful. Getting home late from a sport or any other school activity is probably one of the toughest events many students have experienced. This leads up to rushing homework late at night and then feeling fatigued going straight to class at 7:50 AM.

“It can be an inconvenience, when you get home at a late hour from a sports event and you couldn’t get all of your homework done,” said freshman Kaitlyn O’Neil.

The first few weeks were a little strange for students, going to class directly after the bell rings. In the end, it is all going to end up alright and everyone will make the necessary adjustments to it. Even if having PODs in the middle of the day is tough for some students, they will find ways to work around this new schedule. The morning PODS will surely be missed for the students who have had it in the past.
