As the spring air comes this way, prom season is only days away. This year, Jim Thorpe Area High School’s senior prom will be hosted at Blue Mountain Resort on May 12, 2017. The theme will be “A Night in the Clouds”. The prom committee and advisors are deep into the planning for prom and would like to share how everything is coming so far with the 2017 prom planning.

“I’m very excited for prom this year. The menu is going to be better than it has been in previous years. Also, this is the first year that Jim Thorpe is hosting their prom at Blue Mountain Resort,” senior, Caitlin Holt stated.

Prom Committee President, Caitlin Holt expressed how excited she was for her last and final prom because everything is in line for the special day. Caitlin is a very interactive student at Jim Thorpe Area High School. Caitlin is involved with SADD, varsity softball, and she also is a member of the tennis varsity team.

“My advice to the people who are attending prom for the first time this year is to have fun and enjoy the night. I feel that everyone will love prom this year,” Holt advises. 

Every year at Jim Thorpe Area High School, the prom venue is chosen by members on the prom committee. In order to be able to join the prom committee, the student must be a senior.

“The prom is going to be good this year. We have a very dedicated prom committee and all of the prom plans are in place,” Mr. Spirk, class co-advisor stated.

This is Mr. Spirk’s first year becoming a class advisor.

“I am comfortable being a class advisor. I feel one of my strengths as being a teacher is interacting with the students which is necessary in being an advisor,” Spirk said.

All in all, members of the prom committee, advisors, and attendees are looking forward to this years’ junior and senior prom. It will be “A Night in the Clouds” to remember.
