Coachella vibes

by Nyiah Smith, Reporter

It is around this time every year, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, simply known as Coachella, approaches. Coachella is a music and arts festival located in the city of Indio, California. Coachella is a two-weekend music festival. It normally takes place the second and third week of April.

“I would look forward to listening to the music and enjoying the positive vibes,” Sierra Andreas, senior at JTASD said.

Coachella’s general admission alone is a whopping four hundred and twenty-nine dollars but for the VIP pass its nine hundred and ninety-nine dollars without tax. Many celebrities attend, and a lot of big names get to perform. The headliners of 2018 Coachella were Beyonce, Eminem, and The Weeknd. The Weeknd performed each Friday, Beyonce performed each Saturday, and Eminem closed out the headlining performances on Sunday. Other artists that performed were Børns, Cardi B, Daniel Ceasar, Kehani, Migos, SZA, Tyler, the Creator, and so many more.

“I would be most excited to see Borns, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj and Fergie the most,” Tirrell George, senior at JTASD.

“I would be so excited to see/meet Kylie Jenner and James Charles,” Sierra Andreas, senior at JTASD said.

Not only is Coachella about the music it is also a weekend of fashion trends. Looks are everything at Coachella. Coachella is located in a desert so do not go out and wear jeans and a long sleeve during the day. Hats and comfortable shoes are a must. Once the sun drops, temperatures drop as well. So it is okay to pack a sweater or even a hoodie.

“My Coachella looks would be inspired by Tana Mongeau,” Sierra Andreas, senior at JTASD said. “James Charles would definitely be my inspiration,” Tirrell George senior at JTASD said.

Every year, Coachella also has large-scale, site-specific art installations all throughout the festival and campgrounds. Coachella actually searches for up-and-coming artists to work with.

“ I would definitely plan on going for both weekends because those are memories that will last forever,” Tirrell George, senior at JTASD said.

Coachella only happens once a year but every year it gets better and better.
