On May 8, 2018, Jim Thorpe Area High School dressed down for seatbelt awareness. The students got to dress down in appropriate jeans and shirts, but had to wear duct tape on their shirts like a seat belt. There were about twenty-five students who dressed down.

Angela Sinsabaugh, a freshman, who thinks buckling up is important said, “Buckling up is important because it keeps you safe from anything that might happen to you. I dressed down because I think it is very important for students to wear seat belts no matter what and I would like to support that.”

Seat belts are important because they save many lives. It helps people from flying out the window and moving around in their seats. They can be annoying, but they are very helpful. Lots of students dressed down on Tuesday, May 8 to promise to wear a seat belt.

“We buckle up so we don’t die. I dressed down to promise to wear a seat belt,” said Alexis Sinsabaugh, a freshman.

There are lots of car accidents around the world and people get badly hurt or even die. No one likes to see this happen, so one way to possible survive a car accident is to buckle up always when getting into a car. It saves many lives.

Sheliya Davis, a freshman who dressed down said, “Seat belts can save someone’s life one day.”

Seat belts have saved many lives. If people don’t wear a seat beat and they get in an accident, they can get badly hurt. It is always good to wear a seat beat no matter what.

“Buckling up is an easy way to keep your body safe. It can keep you from being fatally injured or hurt permanently.  It sets an example for others and shows that you value the gift of life. I wore the duct tape belt on Tuesday because my husband almost died in a car accident earlier this year. He was badly injured and I had to take time off from work to help him. I want everyone to realize just how easily life could turn for the worse and one way to prevent a deadly catastrophe,” said Mrs. Serfass, an algebra teacher.
