The FIFA World Cup will be taking place in Moscow, Russia in forty- four days on the 14th of June 2018, and many people are anxious and excited not only for the fixtures, but for the standout players in the tournament representing their country and on a higher level.

“Lionel Messi will most likely fail again with Argentina like he always does when it comes to playing at an international level for his team even though he has many talented players around him,” said junior, Maddison Franklin.

Germany is one of the huge favorites going in for winning the tournament since there is much experience and history in the team also with much young upcoming talent they are surely going in strong.

“With players like Joshua Kimmich being in form, Toni Kross, who is in a winning Real Madrid side, together with Leroy Sane also in a double winning side with his domestic team Manchester City winning two cups so far, Germany will certainly pull through,” said long time Germany supporter who is also a junior, Katelyn Avellanet.

Spain is also huge favorites going in this year. Last winning it in two thousand and ten by winning Netherlands by a goal to one, with the goal being scored by Andres Iniesta late during injury time.

“I think Spain is going to win it this year, the influence of Andres Iniesta will pull through and also the forwards are finally fulfilling their potential as seen in playing with their domestic clubs, even though playing domestic and international are different situations I just don’t think the players will crack under pressure this time,” said Junior Edward, a sophomore.

Pride is on the line as people continue to go back and forth with the debate of who’s going to take the trophy overall.
