Summers in Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe is a small town in Pennsylvania, that is known to be a tourist attracting town. Jim Thorpe has many entertaining activities, such as hiking, biking, swimming, shopping, and festivals in the center of town. Many of these activities are during the summer.

“There are many tourists that fill the downtown section of Jim Thorpe, however, many other areas are sparsely populated. I enjoy being outdoors and experiencing nature in this area,” said Mr. Pope, local teacher and Jim Thorpe resident.

Jim Thorpe has many family friendly places to go during the summer. There are many restaurants to choose from, and shops. There also is a community lake that is a fantastic place for locals and visitors to take a dip in the water. The town also has campgrounds for the people who like to experience the nature and wildlife of the town.

“Yes, I like to visit some of the local restaurants and also ride the bike trails. I also like to learn about the history of this area,” said Pope.

Jim Thorpe is an old historical town, that still obtains historical features to this day. The town even has tours of historical monuments that still stand today. Some places in the community that are popular to visit are The Old Jail, where people can learn about the Molly Maguires. Other popular historical places are the Asa packer, and Harry Packer mansions. This is a good way for people to learn about the town.

“I would recommend downtown Jim Thorpe because it has many historical buildings such as the jail and the train station,” said Pope.

Downtown Jim Thorpe is a very inviting area. It is a great place to get the whole experience of the town. This part of Jim Thorpe is where all the shops, restaurants, historical features, and bike trails are. Jim Thorpe truly is a town that has it all, especially during the summer season.
