Olympian winter sport predictions

Along with the cold weather, comes winter sports. Freshman through seniors can participate and be part of a team in boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, and wrestling.

Terry McElmoyle coaches boys’ basketball. “I think we will have a winning season this year,” stated Junior, Jordan McElmoyle when asked to predict how he thinks the team will do this season. The boys’ basketball season last year was not what most expected, but this year is predicted to be a better year with more wins.

Robert Kovac coaches girls’ basketball for Jim Thorpe. Robert Kovac stated, “I think we have improved. We have a lot of new players that will contribute to our success this season.” Coach Kovac and his team have goals of excelling further than last year and bringing their successful summer, into their 2014-2015 season. Junior Rebecca Cressman said, “My predictions for this season is that we will get over 500 and be a playoff team.”

Shawn Albert is the coach for wrestling. Sophomore, Antonio Madera said, “I think we are going to have a very good team again this year. If we all stick together, I know we will make it to team districts again.” Last year, the wrestling team made it to districts and is planning on making it again this year. The team is very confident about what the season holds and their goals are set high.

All in all, the Jim Thorpe winter sports seem to be starting out very good and working hard to get to where they want and need to be this season. This winter holds some good athletes and good games/matches to be at.
