JTHS brings their talent

Screen Shot 2016-02-26 at 11.27.51 AM On Thursday, April  14th, 2016, Jim Thorpe High School will be hosting their second annual Talent Show. This events takes place in the school auditorium, where the students display their best talents for a crowd to see.

Dimitri Benitich, A Sophomore at Jim Thorpe High School says, “Although I wasn’t able to go to the last one, I think the talent shows are interesting, and I’m curious to see what people have to perform.” Benitich also states, “The talent shows are, in a way, important to our school because it gives opportunity for the students to show their talents that have possible potential for the future careers.”

Some feel the same way as Benitich, that the talent shows have some importance to our school; some however, do not feel the same way.

Leah Malaska, a Sophomore at JTHS, and talent show goer says, “In some ways the talent show is and isn’t important to our school. Some of the performances are not needed.” Despite Malaska’s opinion on the bad aspect of the talent show, Malaska adds, “The talent show is entertaining, and worth the while to go see.”

Some viewing the talent show’s purpose as entertainment, however, it also has deeper meaning for others too.

Jessica Saltz, Senior at JTHS, also founder of the Jim Thorpe Talent Show says, “I’ve been doing the Talent Shows since sixth grade up till ninth, and helped start it last year at Jim Thorpe as my boyfriend’s senior project.” Saltz also states, “It would be worth to come see and support the talent because the proceeds go towards the Carbon County Friends of Animals fund.” Saltz’s lastly adds, “The talent shows are great for the students to showcase their talents and have a good experience.”
