This year is the first year juniors, Cassity Dixon and Heather Locke are cheering at Friday night football games. They have joined the cheers quad at JTHS, because they were ready for something new and exciting. The two girls are very happy with the decision they made.
Cassity Dixon is seventeen years old. She is a junior at Jim Thorpe Area High School. This is her first year cheering for Jim Thorpe. Dixon expected her first year cheering to turn out the way it has.
“I made way more friends than I thought I would have, and I enjoy it way more,” Dixon said.
Dixon is very happy with the friendships she has built and how much she enjoys being part of a team. She thinks joining the cheer squad was a very good decision.
“I will definitely do it again next year,” Dixon stated.
When Dixon is not cheering she loves spending time with her friends, watching Netflix, and she also has a job at the Old Jail in town. On Netflix, her favorite Television Series is The Vampire Diaries.
Heather Locke is sixteen years old. She is also a junior at Jim Thorpe Area High School. This is her first year on the cheer squad as well. Locke expected her first year to be a lot harder than it actually is. Locke is happy with the turnout. Her older sister is on the cheer squad, and gave her a lot of inspiration.
“I love being with my friends and cheering with them,” Locke said.
Locke loves cheering on the side lines every Friday night. She is very pleased with how everything turned out.
“I expect to be cheering again next year,” Locke stated.
When Locke is not cheering, she also enjoys being with her friends and loved ones. Locke also participates in Karate outside of school.
