Every year, the Jim Thorpe Area High School Journalism class holds an ugly holiday sweater contest. Usually the participants buy an ugly sweater, but this year you could either choose from buying an ugly sweater or making an ugly sweater.

“It was an idea that my journalism class came up with, for a fun holiday activity. This is Fifth Annual Ugly Holiday Sweater contest,” Ms. Hydro said.

Pods teachers picked two students from their classes and sent them to The Commons for the journalism class to pick the winners. The students and Ms.Hydro picked one student with the ugliest homemade sweater and one winner with the ugliest store bought sweater.

This year the ugliest homemade winner was senior, Hayden Lynd. The ugliest bought seater was Junior, Devon Lignore. One hundred and three students and teachers participated in the contest, which means that Ms.Hydro and the journalism class raised $103.00. All the money is going to the local cat shelter, Carbon County Friends Of Animals.
