Kayley Kovac

After ten years of playing basketball, junior Kaylee Kovac, starter for the Jim Thorpe Lady Olympians, blows people away with her outstanding skills on the court. When she was in third grade she started playing basketball. She usually plays basketball all year round, but when she is not, she likes to run. In her past, she ran cross country and track. On off-season, she plays AAU for the Lehigh Valley Fever.

According to Kovac, “I absolutely love playing basketball. The thrill of taking the court every game never gets old.”

Over the years, Kovac grew closer to her team. The Lady Olympians have their ups and downs throughout the season, but they always get closer as a team. They always support each other, and they always are there for one another. Even through the toughest times, they always put a smile on each other’s faces. Through the course of the months they all had played together, everyone on the team had become family. With the help of the coaches, they all became much stronger than they were at the beginning of the season.

“I love all the girls on the team. Through the course of the season, the girls on the team become family, and I couldn’t imagine playing without them,” Kovac said.

In the scorebook, Kaylee Kovac has over one thousand points under her name, and she is still going. She is unstoppable when she is on the court. Her coach, who is also her father, helps her to become a better athlete.

According to coach Mr. Rob Kovac, “Yes, as both a coach and a father I’m not only proud of her on the court, but also in the classroom.”
